Supervision is a statutory requirement. A good supervisory space is affirming AND challenging.
Are you looking for a supervisor who will work with you to extend your skills in a way that is both supportive and sufficiently robust to give you the confidence to try new things?
Do you also want a supervision space where you feel safe to discuss how the work is informed by your life story and its current shape?
I can offer these things. I have experience of being on each side of the therapeutic equation – I am a qualified NHS supervisor, a therapist of 15 years’ experience, and, at times, I have been in therapy, so have reflected on how our clinical interactions are best received.
As a qualified clinical psychologist I have a breadth and depth of training that will allow us to think about a wide range of approaches to help clients, with a special emphasis on formulations and what might need to change. I have considerable experience in managing risk and in Child Protection issues.
I currently supervise practitioners delivering High Intensity CBT in the NHS. Previously, I supervised colleagues for seven years. As well as clinical psychologists, I have supervised colleagues with other mental health training, including primary healthcare workers and occupational therapists. In addition, I have supervised doctorate level trainee clinical psychologists from Bath University.
I am an accredited supervisor for IAPT practitioners. I completed the IAPT Supervisors training at Exeter University in 2015. I also received training in supervision from Surrey University in 2005.
As a doctorate trainee I completed a project on models of clinical supervision, so have theoretical as well as practical knowledge on delivering supportive supervision.
